Personal Statement

I am a contract web developer, specialising in Front End, with over 6 years experience in product startups, charity, and fast-paced digital agencies. My ability to quickly learn new coding practices and environments aids the delivery of advanced and high quality products for my clients and their users. I deeply care about the user and developer experience for the products I work on.

Professional Experience

• Barnardo's (September 2017 - August 2018, January 2019 - Present)

  At Barnardo’s I am part of a new digital transformation team building researched prototypes aimed to assist service workers and children under Barnardo’s care. For example, a tool to build a legally sound consent form for research within Barnardo’s and a tool to assess the risk of a case. I am also part of helping the team grow by interviewing new developers, coaching junior developers, and writing clear documentation for each project.

  Working as part of a “delivery team” ensuring the delivery of fast performant, accessible, high quality websites for brands such as Max Factor and Escada. As part of my role, I helped maintain and deliver components for the in-house library.

  I was responsible for updating the Angular application to use recent practices along with building and maintaining a public JS API / theme. As a product team, I worked very closely with the client with fortnightly show & tell updates.

  I built the UI for an application with a fast growing user-base and maintained the Rails API along with a few Node microservices. I ensured to use the latest practices to deliver the best performance. The Angular applications were written in a TDD approach.
